The new O2 Cocoon is an eye-catching clamshell with a focus on music. Its curved white case has a hidden blue display that shows information such as incoming calls, time, battery status or music track details. On the side you’ll find dedicated music controls and a scroll wheel. Open up the Cocoon and inside there’s a neat numeric keypad and a large 240×320 pixel display. The O2 Cocoon has a 2 megapixel autofocus camera (with flash) and a secondary 3G videocall camera above the main display. Although it’s clearly a mobile phone, the Cocoon could also be a realistic replacement for your MP3 player. It has 2GB of internal memory and O2 promise up to 15 hours of continuous music between battery charges. 2GB should be enough to store around 500 MP3 files or up to 1000 WMA files. For those who need even more storage there’s a microSD card slot. The supplied earphones have a 3.5mm adapter on the remote control so you can use your own headphones – essential for any serious music phone. When it’s time to sleep the Cocoon can be placed into it’s nest. The nest is a docking station and also acts as a charger. When placed into the nest, the Cocoon can be used as a bedside radio alarm clock.
